Setral was originally founded by Jean-Léon Spehner, Jean-Pierre Lepré and Guy Grospêtre in Strasbourg, France in 1969. Since the early days Setral was engaged in the central component when it comes to designing frictionless production processes: the high-performance lubricants.
Karl-Heinz Hensel took over the business in 1985 and led the company Setral to a first-class and dynamic growth phase by integrating new production processes and by continuously improving the product range.
In the following years, the production and storage facilities were expanded. Simultaneously, in the 90s research activities were intensified. New production facilities and new technologies accompanied the dynamic quantative growths in the last decade. During the past years the worldwide distribution network was expanded to guarantee global availability.
